Interactive Videos

I learned Supporting materials have advantages and disavantages. It's good to have a mix of supporting materials in your speech and try and not make them lengthy, otherwise your audience will be too distracted. Testimony can enhance credibility and work well in your speech and the source has a high degree of credibility. Examples are great to use in your speech and aren't generalizable. You can use supporting materials in your speech if they have credibility, reliability, and revelance. I also learned how to organize and put your speech together chronologically, summarizing, and concluding. Transitions are very important in your speech to stress the connection between two ideas. If we do not connect with our ideas in our speeches then everything will be jumbled up together and our audience will not enjoy our speech because of how crazy and hectic it may sound. We have to link effectively with transitions. We have to be careful when choosing our supporting materials because they may work in our speeches and they may not. Narratives only provide one view of the topic and if it's too long, it can distract our speech.

  1. I agree with you about the speech buddy videos. They give out a lot of information that help out when it comes to organizing, preparing, and presenting your speech. I found helpful how they listed out the different organization patterns for speeches and the different types of transitions. I like how they tell you what you can use for you speech and they explain the pros and cons of using for example how you mentioned a narrative speech. They talk about why it is good to use it, but then they explain what is bad about it. Also its cool how they explain why we need to use transitions in are speeches and they explain to use what the six transitions are.

  2. I also agree with you on the speech buddy videos. I think that they are very informative. I also agree with Zonum. I think that the transitions part of the videos was very informative and interesting. I really liked learning the different types, why they are important and how to use them effectively. I also found the testimony’s part very interesting and had never thought of it before. I think it’s important to understand what sources are credible and what are not. I liked learning about the different organization methods again but I think the table in the book is helpful for that as well.

  3. I agree that the use of suitable supporting materials can make or break the content of the speech. I also agree that selecting the correct materials depends on the speech’s general purpose and the topic. I believe that it also important to create transitions among the different ideas in order to create a flow which can coherently hold the speech together. Furthermore, transitions guide the audience in understanding what the speaker is trying to convey. It is good to note that there are several different ways to achieve effective transitions which could definitely be beneficial in future reference and presentations.
